The Missing Persons Report | Pastor Chris Coats | Island Christian Church

 • Series: Who Is Jesus?

In Luke 15, Jesus tells three parables—the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son—to show the heart of God toward those who are far from Him. Each story emphasizes not just the tragedy of what’s lost, but the relentless pursuit of the one who searches. These parables were told in response to the Pharisees’ criticism that Jesus welcomed and ate with sinners. His stories challenge religious indifference and highlight that God's love goes beyond logic or comfort—it seeks, sacrifices, and celebrates when the lost are found. Pastor Chris reminded us that this is not just God’s posture—it’s to be ours as well. We are called to seek the lost, even when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable, or costly. True evangelism may mean adapting, taking risks, or facing criticism, but it brings deep joy and meaning to life. On Palm Sunday, we remember that Jesus’ journey to the cross was the ultimate rescue mission. His death wasn’t a detour but the destination. If lost people matter to God, they must matter to us. The question is no longer “Who is Jesus?” The question is “Will I join Him in the search?”
