The Gospel Investigation | Pastor Christopher Coats | Island Christian Church
• Series: Who Is Jesus?
The Gospel of Luke begins with an introduction that reveals Luke’s careful investigation and intentional purpose. Luke, a physician and companion of Paul, was also a historian who sought to provide an orderly account of Jesus' life and ministry. His Gospel is unique because it includes details not found elsewhere, and it emphasizes Jesus as the Savior for all people—Jews, Gentiles, women, sinners, and outcasts. Luke writes to Theophilus, and by extension, to all of us, so that we "may have certainty" about the truth of Jesus Christ. His emphasis on eyewitness testimony, historical accuracy, and fulfilled prophecy gives us confidence that the Gospel is not a myth but a reliable and divinely inspired account. In a world where truth is often questioned, Luke’s Gospel challenges us to investigate the evidence and walk forward in firm conviction. Just as Luke compiled his Gospel for future believers, we are invited to find ourselves in the story of Jesus and trust in the truth of His message.
