Give Them The Business | Pastor Chris Coats | Island Christian Church

 • Series: Wooden Spoon Survivors

Have you ever heard the tale of Baarack, the Merino ram? No, I'm not talking about the biblical Barak who partnered with Deborah to lead Israel into battle. This particular Baarack is famous for a different kind of struggle. You see, Baarack was a sheep, who had somehow gotten lost in the wilderness for a long time—years, in fact! During that time, without anyone to care for him, Baraak's wool just kept growing and growing. When he was finally found, this poor sheep was carrying over 75 pounds of wool! I'm sure when Baraak escaped, he thought he had found true freedom. Nobody would tell him where to go or what to do, and nobody would give him haircuts he didn't want. But is that really freedom? Parenting can feel like shepherding sometimes. We limit where our kids can go, what they can eat, and who they can hang out with—and we may even give them haircuts they don't want! This isn't taking freedom away from them; it is setting them up for success and fulfillment in this place. Our kids think they want true and full freedom, but with appropriate limits and discipline, we can help them achieve the potential that God has for them. Join us for the last message in our current parenting series, Wooden Spoon Survivors. We will discuss what it means for parents to bring godly discipline into the home. Together, we will find biblical insights and practical advice to transform our parenting journeys.
